About Us:
Youth Leadership Through Adventure (YLTA) is a youth-focused program of the North Country Health Consortium, an independent nonprofit public health organization in Northern New Hampshire.

The mission of Youth Leadership Through Adventure is to empower youth to lead and promote the benefits of a healthy lifestyle, reduce substance misuse, and improve overall school climate at each and every school.

YLTA is designed to reduce substance misuse and promote health lifestyles amongst participants by focusing on identified positive youth development constructs such as group bonding, enhancing emotional capacity, and increasing resilience. The program is delivered using a variety of youth-led, adult-guided experiential education activities with a preference for outdoor and wilderness settings. Successful participants realize personal positive development and lead positive change in their schools and communities through environmental prevention activities, service learning projects, and school climate improvement campaigns.
